Government Project Delivery Function and Profession

The Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) is the government centre of expertise  for infrastructure and major projects. The IPA oversees the Government Project Delivery Function and Profession, aiming to continuously improve the way government delivers projects and programmes

The Government Project Delivery Function brings together the work of over 26,000 civil and public servants, including people from other professions alongside project delivery professionals, to lead and manage the projects and programmes which will achieve the government’s objectives. We set up, deliver and assure projects as well as setting standards and giving expert advice to projects and programmes.

The Government Project Delivery Function develops skills, knowledge and expertise to build project delivery capability now and for the future. We work collaboratively across government to identify, train and deploy the right people into the right roles so that they can play a key part in the successful delivery of projects. Our thriving professional community offers a range of exciting career and development opportunities at all levels.

You can find professional standards, pathways, accreditation and learning to support you in your project delivery journey, all within the Government Projects Academy which is hosted on the Government Project Delivery Hub.
